De verschillende witbalans-instellingen op een digitale spiegelreflexcamera kun je goed gebruiken om creatief om te gaan met je beeld. Natuurlijk is de witbalansfunctie bedoeld om wit zo wit mogelijkte laten zijn. Toch is het soms goed te varieren met je witbalans. Bovendien is de veel gebruikte automatische witbalansinstelling vaak onder de maat. Probeer bijvoorbeeld bij een compositie met veel verschillende kleuren eens een koelere witbalans. Je zult zien dat de kleuren dan extra benadrukt worden en dat geeft interessante resultaten. Wil je de avondzon nog wat warmer laten lijken? Gebruik dan een warmere witbalans. Zo kun je leuk experimenteren. Probeer verder zoveel mogelijk de instelling te kiezen die het beste bij het aanwezige licht past.
The theme of my presentation will be 'Writing with light' and why in my opinion the light in many cases is more important than the subject. I'll be talking about what I call the 'Bird on a stick-virus' and how to cure yourself from this 'disease', commonly spread amongst nature and wildlife photographers. And of course I'll be showing a lot of my work, the story behind the images and the choices I made while taking them. During the festival I will also be selling and signing my latest book.
