Okay, today I kicked-off the new year from a photography standpoint and decided to hit the road again. It was a grey and rainy day for the most part. But you didn’t have to be a weather scientist to figure out that that would change at the end of the day. One look at the animated weather maps and I knew all I had to know. So it was off to De Alde Feanen National Park near Eernewoude. It had been a while since I’ve been here, but I know several good locations in the area so I’ve decided to give it a try. And my first chosen location turned out to be spot on with a small herd of shetland ponies, a dramatic sky and beautiful side-lighting.
Now, I can tell you all the things that went through my mind, seeing the small bridge and hoping a horse would walk over it. I think I made a thousand wishes..But the fact is they did. It just happened. Several times. And back again. Whether they were curious or they just knew how to be a good model, I don’t know. All I needed now was a bit of gorgeous side-lighting…and guess what? Not a bad way to start the new year.
